set all free encourages the churches, Christian groups and others to generate initiatives for the bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act, reflecting the strands of Remember, Reflect and Respond to be in keeping with our holistic approach:
REMEMBER the horrors of the Transatlantic Slave Trade:
- the abolitionists – Black, white, male and female, mostly Christian
- the role of the Church in both slavery and abolition
REFLECT on the consequences of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and slavery:
- on racism
- on under-development
- on the impact on commerce
RESPOND to legacies of slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade:
- take action to end modern forms of slavery
- effect healing and reconciliation
We would urge anyone considering marking the bicentenary or 'badging' events or projects as set all free to contact us as soon as possible. For permission to use our logo please contact us on or e-mail
We have a growing database of activities, events and resources being planned around the country and can help you effect fruitful partnerships where appropriate, or simply avoid duplication.
To honour the tradition of the abolitionists we are sure you will want your activities to have a significant, meaningful and lasting legacy across a cross-section of Church and society. This holistic approach connects the past to the present, empowering today's citizens to be today's abolitionists.
